Where Portland and Eugene Rank Among America's Gayest Cities

The list du jour comes from The Daily Beast, which ranks the country's gayest cities.

Portland, Ore. (not to be confused with third-place Portland, Maine) ranks eighth with 5.85 same-sex couples per 1,000 households.

Eugene placed 12th with 5.56 same-sex couples per 1,000 households. About 81 percent of its same-sex couples are women, which The Daily Beast notes makes Eugene "a West Coast lesbian hub." Farther down the West Coast is list leader San Francisco.

We'll see what this all means as supporters of same-sex marriage campaign to bring that right to Oregon in 2012.
