Remembering Cody Reuwsaat (1979-2008)

2296729842_59c3b1573fA house fire in Southwest Portland late Monday evening took the life of 28-year-old Portland artist Cody Reuwsaat. The cause of the fire that took Reuwsaat's life (and much of his home) remains under investigation.

About one year ago, ex-WW freelancer Jason Simms payed a visit to that same house for this WW article. The house doubled as Reuwsaat's studio, where the makeup and effects artist made models, masks and all-around freaky stuff. Simms remembers the visit in an entry in his blog, Simmantics:

From the little I knew of him, Cody seemed kind, clever, gentile, yet as intense as he wanted to be. He was incredibly creative and gifted. I never saw Cody again after that afternoon last February, but I'd hear of his activities through the grapevine form time to time and always expected to hear any minute that he was working on the next major zombie flick or doing costumes for Marilyn Manson.

There will be a memorial Zoo Bomb ride for Reuwsaat (who was apparently an avid Zoobomber himself) tonight. Details in the Zoobomb Forum. Thanks to Jason for the heads up/photo, and our condolences go out to Reuwsaat's friends and family.
