God damn, you know why I love the Thermals? Besides the obvious reasons (like that they're the best melodic punk outfit since Bad Religion), I love 'em because they either:
a) don't understand what a big deal they really are
b) don't give a shit how big a deal they are
Either way, it's always awesome to see the Thermals crew out supporting local bands and playing the occasional house show. Good stuff.
Oh yeah, there was a point to this post. The Thermals just announced via ThermalSpace
that they'll play Portland's recently remodeled Chinatown venue, Backspace (yeah, that
Backspace), along with fellow ego-less Portland musician (and digi-crooner) YACHT. This shindig goes down on Friday, Nov. 30, and it's both ALL AGES and FREE.
So, you know, if you were planning on using NW 5th street to walk home that evening, you might want to change your plans. It's going to be swarming with kids.
See you there.
Backspace is at 115 NW 5th Ave. The show starts at 8 pm, Friday Nov. 30. Free. All ages. Shazam!
