As is the way with silent things, you may not have heard about Slabtown's month-long rock 'n' roll photo show and silent auction, but it's time you did--'cause the Northwest-side garage-rock haven is wrappin' things up this coming Sunday, Nov. 4, at midnight (that's less than week away!).
Curator Howard Higgens (more commonly known as Howie of Howie and the Hotknives, as well as a member of the Night Slaves) opened his 36-piece photo collection--featuring mostly live shots of local bands and DJs taken by Chrystaei Branchaw (Exploding Hearts, Nice Boys), Jocelyn Dean (The Riffs, The Ones, the above Exploding Hearts pic) and Pasha Productions (Storm Large, Morgan Grace, Kleveland), to name a few--to beer-swigging, riff-loving patrons back on Oct. 4 for (shhhh) silent bidding.
Join Howie and the Hot Knives and the Night Slaves (who else?), plus DJs Chinatown, Mr. Punchy, PDJ Cool and Matto (Howe, another of the show's photogs) for a not-so-silent bash during the auction's final hours. Every stinkin' penny benefits the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls--so shut the hell up and get bidding!
Here's the complete list of contributors with a few examples of their work (name of artist pictured in parentheses):
Jocelyn Dean (Midnight Creeps)
Pasha (Power of County)
Matto Howe (Boston Chinks)
Sara Beth White
Hailey Poyser
Chrystaei Branchaw
