Welcome to Ever After. A fairytale and a single, 54 minute track stitched from 12 discrete songs—the most audacious songs Marianas Trench has ever crafted. Ever After is constructed around a story written by Ramsay himself and then finessed into an accompanying booklet. It’s an actual physical experience; a warm throwback to the album era when your music was more than a bunch of orphaned songs sitting on an endless iPod playlist.  What Marianas Trench has done with Ever After is create the story and soundtrack to a dark Tim Burton rock opera that hasn’t been made yet. Prior to The Crux's release, HURT road-tested their new material and reinvented many of their older songs with their first all-acoustic tour, which allowed the band to reconnect with its fans in an intimate setting. The ability to pursue such projects is just one manifestation of the flexibility that comes with HURT's new independent status—a status that's much better suited to the band's iconoclastic nature.

"This new iteration of the band is something that I'm very proud of," Loren continues. "These are the finest musicians I've ever worked with, and we've regained the sense of brotherhood that the band had in the beginning, with everyone united to achieve a common goal. That feeling is the best place to be, because I couldn't really open myself up if I didn't trust everybody in the group."

Black Moth Super Rainbow's TOBACCO makes blown-open digital psych-funk -- just slimy with influence from strange dark places. It's like Parliament Funkadelic via Italian giallo and Dante Carfagna's private 45s collection, and visuals from one of the midnight movies at Cinefamily. Weird? We've not even yet begun. Tobacco is fearless when it comes to fucking with fucked-up sounds, and within his music, beauty and ugliness melt down into the same primordial bass. The vocoder and synths read technological, sure, but what we've really got here is the age-old struggle between spaceman and caveman -- and the caveman is actually the one from the future. Heavy songs for heavy reasons.

Having connected with so many musicians over the past few years, ABX and STV SLV have embarked on recording an album of completely new material--but in the spirit of Hood Internet's fantasy-sports-league stylistic collabos, the album is bringing together many different musicians from as many different walks of sound, to create a modern collaboration made possible by the speed of the Real Internet.
