Youngblood Hawke, Aan

SHANE DANAHER
9 pm Tuesday, Nov. 20., Tuesday November 20 | Sold out.
Crystal Ballroom
1332 W Burnside St.

[POP] Though created as a supposedly less-commercial side project for the overworked members of Iglu and Hartly, Youngblood Hawke (inspired by, but otherwise unrelated to, the Herman Wouk novel) creates electronic pop of unabashedly arena-sized proportions. Boasting thick choruses and syrupy synthesizers reminiscent of Passion Pit, Youngblood Hawke betrays an indelible talent for ferreting out the nerve clusters most receptive to pop-music stimulation. The quintet released its self-titled debut EP in 2011 and has since stuck to the road, applying its sing-along songs to the task of fomenting actual sing-alongs.
