A December to Remember: Of Monsters and Men

[ICE POP] Sextet Of Monsters and Men may have put a flaming dagger through the cold heart of Iceland’s metal cred, but damned if the group hasn’t emerged as one of the most promising young bands since those Arcade Fire kids. The band’s hit record, My Head is an Animal, is a testament to the melting-pot effect that happens when rock makes a transatlantic voyage: Here we have pop hooks interspersed with Icelandic folk music (dig that accordion) and genuinely sweet vocal exchanges that offer up the most unique sound of its ilk since Edward Sharpe, minus the douchebaggery.
