[SPACE RITUAL] In addition to throwing his weight behind all manner of sonic weirdness on his Experimental Portland blog, local journalist (and frequent WW contributor) Robert Ham occasionally curates an evening of live, mind-bending noise. Tonight’s crop of Ham-picked space invaders tend toward the unnerving end of the ambient spectrum, where alien bleats ache for language and subterranean drones search for light. It’s exceedingly difficult to write about sounds such as these, which is precisely why there are sounds such as these—there’s a place beyond the reach of words that is very much worth experiencing.
