In this March Music Moderne concert, prizewinning violinist Benjamin Schmid takes the virtuoso turn in Saint-Saëns’ third and final violin concerto. Finnish guest conductor Hannu Lintu also leads the orchestra in one of the highlights of this month of Shostakovich masterpieces, the Russian composer’s Symphony No. 15, plus an earlier Russian favorite, Mussorgsky’s ever popular Night on Bald Mountain in its less familiar, original orchestration.
