[GARAGE-HOUSE] “White Noise,” English duo Disclosure’s breakout hit, is blowing up in the U.K., peaking at No. 2 on the singles chart since its release in February. But Disclosure’s sound is nothing new. U.K. garage has run the full gauntlet after being born from house in the ’90s and warping into grime and dubstep in the ’00s. In the 2010s, producers across the pond are all about reintegrating house with its long-lost child, taking the wonky melodies and dubby samples from garage and taming them with four-on-the-floor beats. Disclosure follows this formula, but does it extremely well, cranking out writhing tracks like 2012’s “What’s In Your Head,” which happens to be even sexier than “White Noise.” Actually, Disclosure’s sound is the exact opposite of white noise—a carefully orchestrated, melodic booty fest.
