Tineke Postma Quartet

BRETT CAMPBELL
7:30 pm., Friday May 10 | $15.
Mission Theater and Pub
1624 NW Glisan St.

[DUTCH JAZZ] PDX Jazz's recent mission to bring Portland the bounty of European jazz continues with Tineke Postma, the award-winning alto saxophonist and composer who, for a decade has been making lyrical, intriguing music in both her homes, Amsterdam and New York. Much of the Dutch jazz that reaches these shores tends to avant-garde flights, but Postma aims for the mainstream: Esperanza Spalding guest stars on her latest album, and Postma's band—drummer Martijn Vink, bassist Frans van der Hoeven and pianist Marc van Roon—displays a solid chemistry that should endear them to fans of straight-ahead sounds.
