Chroma-Culture

RICHARD SPEER
Wednesday June 26
Bullseye Gallery
300 NW 13th Ave.

How does light interact with color through the medium of glass? That’s the topic of Bullseye’s sprawling, 15-artist group show, Chroma-Culture. From the perverse faux-purity of Silvia Levenson’s The Chosen to the smooth black curves of Mel Douglas’ Midpoint, the exhibition encompasses polarities from white to black, with a vast continuum of saturation in between. Whidbey Island-based sculptor Richard Marquis’ eccentric, multihued miniature boats and German-born Klaus Moje’s immaculate bowl and platter forms skew the downstairs gallery’s offerings toward unabashed chromatic surfeit, while the back gallery and upstairs exhibition space are dedicated to the phenomena of monochromatic black and white, respectively. Through June 29.
