[POP PUNK] Pop punk has been all the rage for a while now, so much so that it’s hard to keep things sounding fresh when a lot of the singers, songs and lyrics sound the same. While Mixtapes isn’t reinventing the wheel with its music, the band keeps it loose and fun with an aggressive style of rock that is heightened by the charming vocal presence of Ryan Rockwell and Maura Weaver. Latest album Ordinary Silence, released last month, is heavy on the energy while avoiding going full-bore into melodrama.
