Karen Esler: Hurricane

RICHARD SPEER
Wednesday July 03
Augen DeSoto
716 NW Davis St.

Central Florida native Karen Esler, now a Portlander, revisits the Sunshine State in a suite of decidedly unsunshiny oil paintings entitled Hurricane. Unerringly, unnervingly, the artist captures the storms’ pounding wind and rain. Dark skies and gale-whipped palm trees lend the series a sense of violence and foreboding. Through July 27.
