E-40, B-Legit, Iamsu!, Mitchy Slick, Mak Billionz, Thai, Kilo Tone

AP KRYZA
8 pm., Friday August 23 | $28.
Roseland Theater
8 NW 6th Ave.

[RAP] Redundant even by the low standards of highly produced radio rap, it’s hard to imagine a song by E-40 lasting longer than 40 seconds if there were a rule in place dictating that a phrase can only be repeated in a song a maximum 15 times. Blame it on his affiliations with Lil Jon if you must, but there’s something particularly generic about the rapper, from his boasts to his monetary obsession to his vaginal complex. The dude’s spent two decades and endless albums (and remix albums) basically working as the rap equivalent of a Wal-Mart brand of soda. How lazy is his flow? He rhymes coke with Coke. He’s a Xerox of a period of rap that should have expired the minute every frat dude in America started impersonating Dave Chappelle’s impression of Dave Chappelle.
