[QUESTIONABLE METAL] For decades, metal was a boys’ club filled with regressive attitudes and testosterone. So it almost seemed like progress when Halestorm won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal performance earlier this year. Then I watched the video for “Love Bites (So Do I),” and found lead singer Lizzy Hale spruced into a trashy pinup, singing about the “other woman” as alternately a “chick” or a “bitch.” The Grammys have sucked ever since Jethro Tull won Metallica’s award, of course, but this really is a case of one step forward, two steps back.
