[STONER ROCK] The biggest annual event in stoner rock is the Roadburn festival in Tilburg, Netherlands. It tends to sell out in about five minutes, and provides unbelievable entertainment minus the dirty masses of bigger outdoor summer fests. One of the big buzzes coming out of Roadburn this year belongs to German retro-rock outfit Kadavar. Watching that set side-stage, I concur this group brings a level of punishing excellence that will please fans of Danava, Led Zeppelin, Blue Cheer and, well, just go see for yourself. Not convinced? Give one listen to the band’s 2013 album, Abra Kadavar. Then smoke me out in the alley behind the Hawthorne.
