The Fleshtones, Split Squad, the Jim Jams, the Sellwoods

JAY HORTON
9 pm., Saturday November 16 | $10.
Star Theater
13 NW 6th Ave.

[SUPER ROCK] Fresh (which can’t be the word) off tour with Los Straitjackets and Southern Culture on the Skids to support joint Halloween-themed album—a Yep Roc collaboration as organic and meaningful as any A-Rod and Yogi Berra photo ops—the Fleshtones long ago embraced their status as party band emeritus of the alt-hardcore demographic. After 37 years banging the Farfisa and smuggling funk to the surf prom, the CBGB mainstays have literally grandfathered themselves into discussions of punk’s glory years, however logically at odds with the artless ethos and eternally touring careerism. If you pride yourself on never tinkering with engines, why spend a life in the garage?
