Escondido

BRANDON WIDDER
9 pm., Wednesday December 04 | $10.
Bunk Bar
1028 SE Water Ave.

[MORRICONE POP] Call the music of Escondido “desert sex” if you want. Don’t worry, Nashville’s Jessica Maros and Tyler James take it as a compliment. Their debut LP, The Ghost of Escondido, tumbles with washed-out guitar, stammering backbeats and sputtering trumpet straight out of the Fistful of Dollars soundtrack, but James’ chugging electric guitar and Maros’ coolheaded vocal inflections push it beyond a Leone lookalike toward something almost Nancy Sinatra-esque.
