Augustine Kofie

RICHARD SPEER
Tuesday November 12
Breeze Block Gallery
323 NW 6th Ave.

Augustine Kofie’s works on paper and panel are the highlight of an architectonically precise group show. Kofie uses disparate media such as paper, ballpoint pen, acrylic, screenprinting and spray paint to create abstract images that recall architectural blueprints or 1960s modernist designs. While his works on panel fairly ooze an impeccable cool, it’s his works on paper that intrigue the most. The paper’s heft and highly tactile surfaces play invigorating counterpoint to the fastidious rectilinear imagery, giving the works a zing and zip that’s a pleasure to behold. Through Nov. 30.
