Bobby McManus: Out-sider No More

RICHARD SPEER
Saturday December 14
Cock Gallery
625 NW Everett St., No. 106

This show is a study in inspired absurdism. The imagery—a skeleton writing a letter; a rat looking up at the viewer, its hand resting on a candlestick—defies sense. The pen-and-ink drawing called Beach Reservation depicts a shark wearing a chef's hat, serving up a meal to a man and woman on a beach. The connections of this work to the sexually transgressive mission of Cock Gallery may be specious, but these pieces can’t help but bring a smile to viewers’ lips. Through Dec. 15.
