Leftover Crack, Juicy Karkass

PETE COTTELL
7:30 pm., Sunday December 29 | $15.
Branx
320 SE 2nd Ave.

[CRUST SKA] The modern crust-punk scene can be haphazardly split into two camps: neo-hippie vegans who graduated from Anti-Flag to absurd levels of joyless posturing and the bottom-feeding trust funders who will ask you to watch their pitbull as they thrash about in the pit. Leftöver Crack’s happy-go-lucky ska vibes may seem like a strange carapace for the pretentious cause-thumping stances of the former, but without the latter, it’d just be a bunch of smelly street kids wishing they were still allowed to party. After 13 years, it’s uncertain when the de facto figureheads of this particular “movement” will run out of gas, but I doubt anyone shows up for highfalutin evangelization of key political issues amongst the crusts, anyways. They just want to skank so hard to “Crack Rock Steady” that they knock out some poor fool’s teeth.
