Spanish Gold, Clear Plastic Masks
830 E Burnside St.
[RIO GRANDE ROCK] Dubbing Spanish Gold a "supergroup" is probably a bit excessive, but there’s no doubting there are some big figures in the picture. My Morning Jacket drummer Pat Hallahan joins Dante Schwebel of City and Colour and Adrian Quesada, formerly of Grupo Fantasma. The trio’s newest, South of Nowhere, is Black Keys-inspired garage rock with a hint of groovy Latin flare. Spanish Gold is a revivalist band, too, incorporating psychedelia into its busy riffing, enough to make pioneers like the Zombies proud.
