Barrington Levy, The Detour Posse
4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
[CROSSOVER REGGAE] If you listened to radio in 1980s London, you’d probably recognize Barrington Levy’s “Under Mi Sensi” and especially “Here I Come.” But the Jamaican reggae-fusion artist also found traction in drum-and-bass circles, where his tracks have been sampled and re-sampled for two decades. Since then, Levy has largely followed the time-worn formula of the aging icon, releasing compilations and remakes of his hits. One single, “Rosie,” was released this year, and it shows the same Barrington Levy’s still got a pulse: His signature “who-o-a” wail shines through bright as ever.
