For those uninitiated to experimental movement, this is the best place to see Portland's foremost independent dancers. The atmosphere is relaxed with the audience free to roam around, and the performances this time are more varied than usual. Performance art veteran Linda Austin performs, likely with props and a touch of humor. Luke Gutsgell, who has appreciably mixed art and entertainment since moving here this year, should be a high point. Probably the biggest standout in this scene is William Jay, an experienced waacker and hip hop dancer. He integrates those styles with African, contemporary and popping. These dancers are joined by dancer Kya Bliss and experimental performance artist Muffie Connelly. The crowd will move from room to room as the performers change stages. Resist. At some point, a performer will come to you.
