Beardyman

MITCH LILLIE
9 pm, Friday August 08 | $15.
Branx
320 SE 2nd Ave.

[LOOPYMAN] Darren Foreman’s voice has won him two national beatboxing championships in the U.K., but that’s not where you’d recognize it from. The loop-happy producer provided the stoned-out and hilarious vocals on Fatboy Slim’s “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat,” last summer’s massive dance-floor banger when remixed by Calvin Harris. His solo work as Beardyman is less festival-ready but no less wild, his improvised vocal loops assembling to form flavors of reggae, pop and hip-hop, all thanks to a device known as—seriously—Beardytron 5000 MkII.
