[PSYCHEDELIC SAMPLER] Over about a decade’s worth of recording, California trio the Entrance Band has crafted a backlog of sparse psychedelia, each album lined with a hefty, granola-fed vibe. Last year’s Face the Sun continues to echo throughout the genre, but it’s the Netherlands-based Jacco Gardner who offers this bill’s most thoughtful and meticulously devised take on psychedelia. His 2013 debut, Cabinet of Curiosities, comes off like a dug-up 1960s gem. Precise production and a reliance on antiquated-sounding keyboards make the effort a significant bit of backward-gazing, sugary psych. And considering Cabinet was the 20-something’s first full-length, only better developed work can be expected in the future.
