[DANCE ROCK] You can be forgiven for thinking the Faint broke up. After all, it's been five years since the band's last record—although frankly, it feels even longer than that. Not because the Omaha dance-rock quartet is so good that the wait for albums slows the rotation of the earth or anything, but because it seems like it's been about a decade since the group had any sort of high profile. In fact, that's basically true: The band's career peaked in the early 2000s, right around the time indie rock rediscovered synthesizers and dance rhythms and everyone started ripping off New Order. To be fair, the Faint came along a bit before the trend truly exploded, so lumping it in with total poseurs like the Bravery wouldn't be right. But the electro-grooves of 1999's Blank-Wave Arcade and 2001's Danse Macabre—which the band plays in full tonight—sound just as leaden and outdated today.
