DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:

[CANADIAN R.E.M.] Paul Murphy’s slightly congested, nasally vocals are the stuff of winter. The Wintersleep frontman doesn’t so much sing as cast his words across vacant spaces, allowing them to bounce and echo in a warming, cyclical fashion. Devised in Halifax and based in Montreal, the band is in its best form with fifth release Hello Hum. It’s digitally doctored alt-rock in line with early Nada Surf or Portland’s Climber, with synthesizers and rubbery guitar loops served atop a soft bed of mechanical humming and computerized glitches.
