But that’s not to say the classic-rock-minded axeman is buried in the fray. Fowles’ old-school methodology provides an invaluable layer to his band, injecting a ’60s folk-rock feel à la John Phillips or Gram Parsons. An underrated songwriter himself, Fowles is no stranger to the frontman role. If his solo performance comes anywhere near the Parson Red Heads songs he penned—“I Was Only” and the Dr. Dog-sounding “Happy We Agree”—you’re in for a real treat.</span>&nbsp;<p></p>
