DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:

[FREAK FOLK] It’s fascinating what the Pacific Northwest does to the musical psyche. It’s turned Blood Brothers into Fleet Foxes and Pretty Girls Make Graves into the Cave Singers—in essence, at least. The latter is one of Jagjaguwar’s finest, a Seattle psych-folk trio responsible for No Witch, perhaps the region’s best example of near-gospel, brimstone-bashing freak folk. Frontman Pete Quirk possesses the timeless, tortured voice of a million cigarette breaks. Flanked by a band that’s as good at traditional shuffling as it is at reconfiguring our perception of Americana, the Cave Singers is always worth the price of admission.
