DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE: [ANGELIC ART POP] It’s been five years since L.A. quartet Lavender Diamond released its first full-length record of whimsical folk pop. On the band’s new album, Incorruptible Heart, frontwoman Becky Stark’s entrancing and unbreakable voice hasn’t changed, but most everything else has. The lead singer’s eclectic whims, which used to include donning frumpy dresses of lace and ruffles, feel even more playfully confusing this time around. She and her bandmates blur the lines between punchy electro-pop and soft prayer-inducing balladry, resulting in a dizzying face off between purity and its counterpart. Produced by OK Go’s Damian Kulash and mixed by Dave Fridmann, Incorruptible Heart brims with lush reverb, soaring vocals and a bounty of textural frill and fluff, just as you’d expect from Stark.
