DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:

[DIXIE FOLK] Alynda Lee has lived the life most Americana songwriters only mythologize. Born in the Bronx, she jumped a train down to New Orleans as a teenager, learned to play music from a bunch of hobo musicians, then went about starting her own Southern Gothic folk band. She’s since scrubbed up from those raw beginnings. Look Out Mama, Hurray for the Riff-Raff’s fourth record, is almost like a rustic Florence and the Machine album, framed by sweetly emotional arrangements, hand-clapping rhythms and Lee’s honeyed-yet-gritty voice. It’s ramshackle in spirit if not in sound, and a gripping honesty wriggles out from under the tight production.
