Yesterday's shuttle diplomacy between City Hall and the Portland Building, a main hub for the city's bureaus, produced a result today: Tom Miller, Mayor Sam Adams' chief of staff, will replace Sue Keil, who yesterday announced she would retire in May, the mayor's office has announced. Tom Miller, Mayor Sam Adams' new pick to replace Sue Keil as the director of the Portland Bureau of Transportation, will get a hefty raise this month along with a new job title. As the mayor's chief of staff, Miller earned just under $100,000 in 2010. Today the Bureau of Human Resources reports Miller will earn $150,000 as the new transportation director under Adams.
