MusicfestNW Posts Full Schedule

I'm not great at planning. Forgetting birthdays and missing meetings is kind of "my thing." But when it comes to Willamette Week's own MFNW, I like to plan my weekend down to the hour. (Then I get drunk and miss half the shows on my schedule—but that's not the point.) Anyway, if you're anything like me, this handy-dandy online MFNW schedule is going to blow your socks off. It comes complete ...   More

"The biggest philanthropists and the biggest community servants are the small businesses and the people who work for nonprofits," WW publisher Richard ...   More

MusicfestNW Announces Preliminary Lineup (Exclusive!)

MFNW director Trevor Solomon likes to walk over to our desks and say things like "Major Lazer." We're, presumably, supposed to provide some kind of response. Some of these crazy ideas come to fruition (Major Lazer, for example), and some of them don't. But by this time of year, WW's annual MusicfestNW festival (Sept. 9-12) is in its "mostly figured out" phase. Headliners like the National, Sleep, the ...   More

Live Review: Brian Jonestown Massacre, June 17 at Crystal Ballroom

WW intern Sarah Jacoby jumps right in to seeing Brian Jonestown Massacre and gets exactly what she bargained for. I admit it. I didn't know anything about The Brian Jonestown Massacre until I saw the infamous DiG!—a movie that lead singer Anton Newcombe would probably like us all to forget. Having seen the somewhat unflattering portrayal of the BJM in the film, I went to the band's show last ...   More
