Last year, on a balmy night in mid-August, a trailer
rolled up in Old Town carrying a bunch of gear and two masked men in
full-length druid cloaks. Signs posted on walls and telephone poles
[THE NEW WORKING CLASS] Technically, The Failure is
billed as And And And’s official debut full-length, but anyone
following the local music scene since 2010 has probably heard at least a
White Lung stays punk, even as it outgrows the punk scene.
As a remedy for frustration, punk rock works well enough.
But at this point, the rote formula of short-plus-fast-plus-loud is most
effective as a distraction for adolescents or an analgesic for
[CONFESSIONAL GARAGE ROCK] Sallie Ford’s
debut solo album probably won’t earn the comparisons to Ella Fitzgerald
she received with her previous band, the Sound Outside. On Slap Back,
[FEEL-GOOD INDIE] It’s easy to gloss over The Lost Weekend,
the second album from Sean Flinn & the Royal We. With its sunny,
medium-tempo indie-pop arrangements and vague lyrics about roma
