April 12: Buckman Bash!

bash_lg.jpg

Join Buckman Elementary for an evening with James Mercer, frontman for The Shins, and Stephen Malkmus, of Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks! These two indie-music luminaries will rock the stylish Jupiter Hotel stage on Friday, April 11, 2008. The evening’s proceeds will benefit the award-winning arts-integrated academic education program of Buckman Elementary School Arts Focus.

Performance artist, writer, and filmmaker Andrew Dickson (whose performance piece Sell Out was a hit at T:BA 2007), and Tara from KNRK 94.7FM, will add a dash of hilarious irreverence as MCs for the evening’s festivities.

A silent art auction featuring work by artists Storm Tharp, Jenene Nagy, Eugenia Pardue, Marlana Stoddard Hayes, Joe Thurston, Scott Wayne Indiana, Curtis Pachunka & Karen Koch, Justin “Scrappers” Morrison, Alicia J. Rose, Jonny Fenix, Bwana Spoons, Brett Superstar, Rob Bardel, Harvest Henderson, and others; video shorts; and a Buckman student art gallery will complete the evening’s festivities. Read what Pitchfork has to say!

AND, we’ll auction an Epiphone Les Paul guitar in a special cherry color
signed by both James Mercer and Stephen Malkmus! No way!
