Where to Buy/Pine Over Gear

COMPILED BY ALEX VALDIVIESO avaldivieso at wweek.com

Where Do You Get Your Gear?

PDX's studio guru shows where he gets equipped.

Name: Larry Crane

Credits: Owner of Jackpot! Studios and Tape Op magazine

Picks: SuperDigital, Trade Up Music

Reason: "SuperDigital (915 NW 19th Ave., 228-2222) is Portland's premier pro audio/recording supply store. Rick McMillen (owner) and Donnie Wright (manager) have everything from reel-to-reel tape to Pro Tools to tube-powered audio gear. Plus there's a fancy new mastering room for putting the final touches on your album. Trade Up Music is definitely the 'hip' music store (and a great alternative to the chain store) with lots of used odd/cool/junky/great gear cycling through the place on a daily basis. New gear is also available, and many things can be ordered. The drum room is excellent, with a knowledgeable staff."
