Chip Kelly Has Been Fired by the Philadelphia Eagles

The former Oregon coach won't make it to the NFL's Black Monday.

After a season filled with "Chip Kelly to USC" and "Chip Kelly to [not-USC]" jokes, the Philadelphia Eagles have parted ways with three-year head coach Chip Kelly. The Eagles' 6-9 (nice) record this season was the final nail in the coffin for the former Oregon head coach whose offense has regressed every season.

Well, it was one of the nails at any rate.

Kelly's time in Philadelphia was marked with a whirlwind of head-scratching trades—including the Nick Foles for Sam Bradford trade that both the Rams and Eagles seemed to lose—accusations of racism from former players and Snoop Dogg telling Kelly to kill himself.

As shocking as this may be to believe, even the regularly even-keeled Philadelphia Eagles fans turned on Kelly this season.

But on the plus side, Chip Kelly can now come back to college. Granted, the primo jobs have already been filled. USC already made its standard underwhelming hire with the promotion of its interim head coach. The other USC—the one in South Carolina that is bad at football—also made an underwhelming hire. Georgia already hired a coach. Miami hired the coach Georgia fired. The only good job left is the newly open offensive coordinator position at the University of Oregon.

Come back, Chip. Please come back.
