The outgrowth of a nearby record shop and label whose in-store shows proved too popular, Black Water garnered national press for pairing metal acts with vegan simulations of dive staples ($8 buys a cruelty-free, grease-rich cheesesteak) and won teen loyalties as perhaps the last local venue regularly booking all-ages concerts. At its core, it's a dark-lit garage-band refuge rocking low prices, good pours and great tunes.
