'Tis the season for race-baiting nonsense.

The far-right protest group Patriot Prayer has decided to return to Portland after a lengthy hiatus. The far-right group last made headlines in the city after abandoning a plan to march on the waterfront on Sept. 10. (They congregated across the river in their hometown, Vancouver, Wash., instead.)

The group plans to come to downtown this Saturday for a memorial march for Kate Steinle, a San Francisco woman who was shot and killed by a man, Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, who had been living in the U.S. illegally and had previously been deported. A jury found Garcia Zarate not guilty of murder, but did convict him on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Garcia Zarate's defense attorney argued that he had accidentally shot the gun after finding it on the street.

Next Tuesday, Patriot Prayer plans to "stand against Hillary" at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, where Hillary Clinton is planning to promote her new book.

And on Dec. 23, the group will "March for Jesus" at the waterfront.
