Cheap Eats 2008

Having gained loyal fans at their converted Franz bread truck in St. Helens, Wayne's packed up and is now serving the best dogs this side of Chicago in brand new dine-in digs in Northeast. The Chicago Red Hot ($3.50 regular, $4.50 jumbo) is a proper Windy City-style beef dog, stacked with all the fixin's. The Ditka Dog ($7.75), smothered in chili and cheese, Chicago Fire Dog ($6), and Halsted Hot Pastrami ($8.50) join an ample selection of other winsome wieners. Wash it down all down with a can of—what else?—Chicago's Old Style Beer. (JM)
