Many visitors to Portland express incredulity upon seeing Mary's Club packed with female patrons on a Thursday evening, but it comes as no surprise to anyone that the customers at Bailey's, just two doors over, are almost exclusively male. Beer snobbery, unlike wine or cheese or chocolate snobbery, remains a predominantly masculine pastime, and Bailey's caters to snobs. Or, more accurately, SNOBs—the bar's 20 rotating taps encompass the entire spectrum of Oregon beer, and foreigners are mostly relegated to the ceiling-high shelves bearing a collection of a hundred or so brews.
What to drink: Good beer, and lots of it.
