Cheap Eats 2010

Don't let the word-jumble name scare you off. I'm pretty sure it's Korean for "badass comfort grub for all." Push open the door of this strip mall hidey-hole and prepare for a bellyful of excellent homey Seoul standards, from sizzling tabletop barbecue to bibimbap, in a cozy, lowlit bar-meets-Asian woodland cabin setting. It even comes pre-packed with Korean expats downing big bottles of Hite and cheering on their homeland's Olympic speed skaters on Asian sports network TV. Play guess-the-pickled-veggie as the rounds of vibrantly spiced banchan hit the table (free with dinner), then wrap fat squares of savory steamed pork belly and spicy radish in cabbage leaves ($10.95) for a dunk in miso or red sauce. While the charcoal-grilled meats ($10.95), from pork to rib eye, are tender and addictive, branch out and explore dishes like a delicate flavor bomb soup of dried "Pollack" fish, hot chiles, bean sprouts and soft tofu ($8.95). You won't be sorry.
