Devour 2010

[PIES, FANCY FOODS] "I'm a sucker for great packaging," says Immortal co-owner Morgan Ennis with a laugh. "But it's gotta be good inside, too." Ennis lives up to her credo with her grape-colored fancy foods-, beer- and wine-parlor, where whimsical oversized lollipops and individually wrapped Mitchell marshmallows ($1.25 each!) top antique desks, and the sideboard is packed with Garlic Lady olives, tall bottles of vinegars and pretty chutneys. The eponymous pies are small, savory belly warmers with thick, rustic buttery crusts and changeable innards—from Tails & Trotters sausage with onions, peppers and beans (call it Italian taco pie) to a sweet potato-mushroom-goat cheese mashup. This joint ain't always cheap, but it always looks divine.

Grocery list: T&T Italian grinder pie ($7), antique beer goblet ($6.50), Maison L'Aiglon Syrah ($9.50), chiquilin novas secas (whole dried peppers, $2.75), blueberry-açai gummy bears ($4.50).
