Video: Grey Anne, "Treasure Trove"

Well, this is a nice surprise. We haven't heard from Portland's Grey Anne—one of my favorite ladies in local music—for quite some time, and this new tune (described by the artist as a "spaghetti western" tune) is quite promising. I'm reminded more of tasteful swashbuckling music: The "hello/hello/hello/echo/echo/echo" bit might as well be "yo-ho-ho" as far as I'm concerned. The gold-searching she speaks of sounds suspiciously like the a metaphor for the Portland music scene—especially the "trail of broken bones" bit and the fact that no one really ever makes much money out of the pursuit.

I've been encouraging Ms. Anne (last heard on our Christmas comp) to delve back into show-playing as of late, and while I don't take any credit for her re-emergence, I certainly give it a big fat LIKE/+1/DIGG or whatever. I am left with only one question: Is she playing a guitar that sounds like a ukulele or a uke that sounds like a guitar? Pretty sure it's the former, but LIFT THAT THING UP!
