The New York Times is reporting on a new study by the Pew Charitable Trusts that analyzes the growth of "clean energy" jobs in America between 1998 and 2007.
The study, which does end before the economy went in the tank, concludes that growth of jobs in the "clean energy" sector was 2 1-2 times as fast as other jobs over the time period beginning in 1998. And for once Oregon — which has the nation's second-highest unemployment rate behind Michigan — is a leader on a list dealing with jobs.
Oregon tops the clean energy charts with 1 percent of its jobs (PDF) in this field.
There's a lot to digest in the numbers. But since green energy has been a big push for Gov. Ted Kulongoski, look for him to begin touting these numbers as evidence that his approach is a winner.
