Mt. Hood Meadows Is Suspending Season Passes of Guests Who Refuse to Wear Masks Mt. Hood Meadows is now cracking down on recreationalists who are violating that critical pandemic safeguard by suspending season passes. While the resort says that most of its guests are following directions and covering up, outliers who either wear a mask incorrectly or flat out refuse to put one on threaten the health of others as well as Meadows’ ability to keep operating.
Mt. Hood Meadows Asks That You Please Not Tailgate in Its Parking Lot This Season Mt. Hood Meadows has a message for skiers this season: Come visit, but do not loiter. The resort says that since it reopened on Nov. 30, there have been more guests lingering in the parking lot after their sessions. Since the pandemic has limited many forms of entertainment this year, turning the plowed pavement at Meadows into a giant tailgater is an understandably tempting way to pass the time. But that can lead to overcrowding—a hazard operators there were trying to avoid due to COVID-19—and it is stretching the resort’s resources.

Timberline has tentatively scheduled to start running the lifts Nov. 25, while Mt. Hood Meadows should get going Nov. 30, conditions permitting at both.
Portland-Area Ski Resorts Are Making Plans to Operate Safely and Efficiently This Winter Timberline and Mount Bachelor were actually two of the only ski resorts in North America to have experience operating during the COVID-19 outbreak, and the industry as a whole relied on those results to implement Ski Well, Be Well protocols. That includes employee training in disinfection protocols that are consistent with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, staff wellness checks at the start of every shift, and the now-widespread practices of mandatory mask wearing and physical distancing.
Mt. Hood Meadows Suspends All Operations for the Season Mt. Hood Meadows has announced that it is suspending all operations, joining almost every ski resort in the state, including Timberline. While operators did consider running lifts without lodge services, they ultimately determined it was best to close entirely to help quell the spread of COVID-19. Meadows will re-assess if conditions improve.
