The Restaurateur Behind Nel Centro and Altabira Permanently Closes All Five of His Restaurants

In what is perhaps the first major permanent loss to the city’s culinary community due to the COVID-19 outbreak, David Machado has announced that he will permanently close all of his restaurants. The longtime Portland chef and restaurateur is pulling the plug on five properties: Altabira City Tavern, Citizen Baker, Nel Centro, Pullman Winebar & Merchant and Tanner Creek Tavern, as reported by Eater.
