Scanning The New York Times Thursday Style pages, what do we find but a profile on a new, edgy shop, Project No. 8, just opened on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. The article highlights the small gallery-cum-boutique's space and its "precious little stock, a lot of it exclusive and available in limited runs."
Among the carefully curated racks hangs an all-eyes-on-me piece by local renegade clothier Adam Arnold. So how did our little Adam get picked up by this highly selective NYC boutique?
One of the owners, Elizabeth Beer, happened to be in town and drove by Arnold's studio, which also just so happened to have one of said eye-catching frocks perched in the window. Ms. Beer marched right in an placed an order for her yet-to-be opened shop. As for Arnold's take on the whole exchange: "Portland gets the different colors and sizes that the New York Times can only hint about! I have always felt that Portland, Oregon is ten times better than NYC." Hear, hear.
